Customer Review: Great TV, Great Price
We bought this TV because CNET rated Vizio as the top budget brand. We have not been disappointed!!! We have the 1080i model (has since been replaced by 1080p). The TV picture is very clear. The screen has no problems with glare, despite being next to a large window. The sound is excellent (and I'm hard of hearing!). The newer models of the tv come with 3 HDMI connections, which is awesome. There are also plenty of other connections available. We have the cable box, dvd, and computer hooked up to the TV, and could hook up at least 3 or 4 more things! Everything interfaces with the TV perfectly, the resolution is excellent. The TV is also very lightweight, which is great for dusting! The TV is very attractive looking and we get lots of compliments on how it looks, and how clear the picture is. I would recommend this to anyone!
Customer Review: Good picture but missing feature.
Very nice picture but was disapointed when I tried to activate the TV guide feature. After three days of e-mails to tech support was informed that this feature had been deleted on current models. What a pain, even my $49 converter box had this feature. Remote control is hard to use with one hand as TV channels are on the bottom and fall under the palm of your hand when held.

Nowadays, many people are buying HD televisions and those who aren't are saving up for one. You might be asking, then, what's so great about HDTVs? The answer: Several things.

For one, HD televisions have better picture quality, which partly owes to a higher screen resolution. Indeed, HDTVs can reach a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which means it can display up to 2,073,600 pixels per image - ten times better than regular televisions, which can only display about 200,000 pixels per image. This pixels are crammed together, resulting in sharper images.

Another factor which contributes to the excellent picture quality of HDTVs is the aspect ratio. While regular TVs have an aspect ratio of 4:3, high-definition TV's have 16:9 - the same as movie theatre screens. This means they are 33% wider, allowing you to use your peripheral vision so you can truly get absorbed in what you are watching.

HD televisions are equipped with progressive scanning, as well, as opposed to interlaced scanning. Indeed, you will notice that HDTV models come with a 'p' in the end (for progressive scanning), such as 1080p and 720p. This means that the entire picture is shown in a single frame, instead of displaying it in several separate frames simultaneously, resulting in clearer pictures.

Aside from providing clearer and sharper pictures, HDTVs also prevents you from seeing ghost images or 'snow' on your screen again. Ghost images are replica images which appear faint and superimposed on the real image, whereas 'snow' is described as white spots on your screen (you see a lot of them when you're not getting any signal). Because HD televisions use digital signal, you'll never worry about them again.

High definition televisions also provide a wider viewing angle which simply means you can see the picture clearly no matter which angle you're watching the screen from. This way, you can be working out on a treadmill at the far side of the room and still see the screen clearly. This feature is especially obvious with plasma HDTVs.

Finally, HDTVs provide crystal-clear audio quality to go with the superb picture, particularly since they use Dolby Digital 5.1. This translates to 5.1 channels of digital surround sound rather than just two channels (left and right), which the HDTV distributes to six speakers which can be arranged throughout the room. This is the same system used by many movie theatres, which truly helps you recreate the experience of watching in a movie theatre.

Now that you know the benefits of HD televisions, you can understand why so many people have one on their wishlist. Don't take my word for it, though. Rather, go ahead and save up for your own so you can see and hear the difference for yourself.
